1927 - Gay Australian DJ Alan Freeman born this day. He worked as an announcer on the 3KZ station in Melbourne before moving to Britain in 1957 where he worked on successful shows "Pick Of The Pops", "Top Of The Pops" and his own "All Systems Freeman"

1979 - French lesbian tennis player Amelie Mauresmo born this day. Mauresmo shot to international attention in 1999 at the Australian Open after beating top seed Lindsay Davenport and Martina Hingis subsequent (and very unfortunate) remarks she thought Mauresmo looked like "half a man"
