IDAHO "International Day Against HOmophobia" Update... May 17th – and it’s Cranking Up

IDAHO in South Australia will be officially launched on Friday May 16th at the Lion Arts Centre courtyard, cnr Morphett Street and North Terrace. A rainbow cake and coffee will be served … but there are many other events that are planned to celebrate the day.

.

Displays, morning and afternoon teas, lunches, picnics and barbecues are planned across the Adelaide metro area. Some of the events planned will also include completing the sexual diversity health services audit, a 20 question survey aimed at asking the sometimes sticky questions about how queer-friendly health services really are.

But there are many ways you can celebrate IDAHO, and they can include

* having a same-sex shower or bath
* thanking someone for not being homophobic
* thanking someone for not assuming your sexuality
* flying a rainbow flag
* educating others about homophobia
* or even baking a rainbow cake.

The rainbow cake recipe, all listed events and the sexual diversity health services audit (with easy-to-follow instructions on how to use and complete the survey) can be found at the SA IDAHO webpage. Click on the link at left.

If you would like to know more about IDAHO in 2008 or would like some printed resources, please call Hugh at Gay Men's Health on 8334 1606. Country callers should call 1800 888 559.

The IDAHO committee wish to thank Gay Men's Health, SHine SA, the Inside Out Project, St George Cakes and Gelati, Peter Hall Chartered Accountants and Pulteney 431 for their support. http://www.acsa.org.au/idaho.html
