The position of indigenous men in both their own communities and the larger Australian community has come under unprecedented scrutiny in the recent years.
The criticisms that have permeated from popular press and other media outlets have gone relatively unquestioned.
Whether it be a callus remark, a racist joke or an uninformed newspaper article; one constant continues to persist - that is a negative image of indigenous Australian men.
More Than A Few Good Men is an exhibition of works that identify contemporary issues associated with being an indigenous man in the early 21st century. Aspects of health, law, renewal, future aspirations and country are explored through the context of painting. It is the aim of this exhibition to bring to our audience and the public a constructive and informed understanding of the concerns that occupy the minds of indigenous men in Australia.
