Are you old enough?

Homosexuality has traditionally been a soft target for legislatures evoking hysteria about unnatural acts by quoting misplaced religious righteousness and other such nonsense.

Spurred on by changing social attitudes, state governments have progressively been bought to heal thanks also partly to federal human rights and anti-discrimination legislation. Still, in the world of geo-politics and emotive lobby groups, unambiguous and consistent laws are yet to evolve. For example, in the ACT the age of consensual sex between males is 16, in NSW it’s 18 and 17 in Tasmania. Male to male sex is legal at 18 in the Northern Territory but 16 for male to female. We look forward to the day when such laws are transparently non-discriminatory, no matter where we live. While discrimination in legislation such as this exists, people will continue to treat gay people differently.
