  • LIVING QUEER: Sydney Mardi Gras a dazzler !!
    SYDNEY was a spectacle of colour, costume and sequins last night as the gay and lesbian Mardi Gras parade made its way down Oxford Street. More than 300,000 revellers watched the parade of 9000 people wind its way towards the city to celebrate Sydney's 32nd Mardi Gras festival.

Fairy Tales features drawings, paintings and sculpture by six gay artists: Brian H. Crede, Anthony Gonzales, Joel Handorff, Seth Ruggles Hiler, Tai Lin and Branden Charles Wallace. The exhibition opens on Saturday, June 13, 2009 and runs through July 13th, 2009. Casa Frela will host a gala artist opening reception on Saturday, June 13, 2009 from 4PM to 7PM.

  • Italian-based Mike Cooper will perform at KickArts
    Italian-based post modern everything musician Mike Cooper will perform at KickArts on Sunday 3 May at 2.00pm and present a live musical accompaniment for Paradjanov’s lauded film The Colour of Pomegranates using sampled elements from Paradjanov’s soundtrack of Armenian folk tunes and original material to create a new and stunning soundtrack.

  • The exhibition "Monster Zoo" opens at KickArts Cairns North Queensland
    The Wunderkammer (also known as Kunstkammer) is a predecessor to the modern museum and held encyclopaedic collections of objects and animals whose categorical boundaries were yet to be defined as real or fake.  One such animal was the Wopertinger, later identified as a fictional animal, and is said to have inhabited the alpine forests in Bavaria.  The Wopertinger is thought to have been inspired by sightings of wild rabbits infected with a virus that produced the growth of antler-like tumours in various places on the rabbit’s head and body.
