  • RAW STORY: Escape from Crystal Meth City
Carl remembers sitting at his home computer one fateful evening obsessively trolling internet sex sites for a hook-up. What he can’t recall is how long he was perched there. Eight hours…10…12? The problem is time has little meaning when you’re strung out on crystal meth and chasing your next sexual encounter. More to the point, nothing is of any consequence except the hunt; it is all-consuming. Carl received a stark, painful reminder of this fact that night.
  • COMMENTARY: Are Gay Priests the Problem?
What Is the Truth Behind Any Association of Pedophilia and Homosexuality Bertone said: "Many psychologists, many psychiatrists have demonstrated that there is no relationship between celibacy and pedophilia, but many others have demonstrated that there is a relationship between homosexuality and pedophilia."
  • SEX AND LIVING: HIV is the end in SIGHT?
Mass prescription of anti-retroviral drugs could eradicate the disease within 40 years, scientist says Testing everyone at risk of HIV and treating them with anti-retroviral drugs could eradicate the global epidemic within 40 years, according to the scientist at the centre of a radical new approach to fighting Aids. An aggressive programme of prescribing anti-retroviral treatment (ART) to every person infected with HIV could stop all new infections in five years and eventually wipe out the epidemic, said Brian Williams of the South African Centre for Epidemiological Modelling and Analysis.
  • LIVING QUEER: When a Husband comes out !!
How does it feel to discover the person you married is gay? Or, after years with a man, that you're attracted to other women? Amy Bloom introduces the stories of partners who had a change of heart I'm not sure why we should be shocked when someone ends a marriage and comes out of the closet. A quick browse on the internet will reveal plenty of websites with names such as My Husband Is Gay and Gay Husbands/Straight Wives, with checklists for worried wives. The top warning signs? Possession of homosexual pornography and evidence of visits to homosexual porn websites. (You would not think a lot of men, confronted with a log of their hours spent on sexynakedmen.com, succeed in convincing their wives that this is a common, heterosexual male way to spend an afternoon, but apparently they do.) There aren't as many websites for men left by gay wives. Perhaps they aren't as ready to share their hurt. Perhaps it's their wounded pride. Whatever the reason, it's certainly not because it's not happening.
  • MENS HEALTH: Gay men and sex drugs
Sex drugs - legal and illegal - are easy to come by and some Aids activists fear that this could lead to a spike in HIV infection among the gay community here. Their worry is that the use of such drugs can impair a person's judgment, leading him to let his guard down and have unprotected sex recklessly. Latest figures show that the number of human immunodeficiency virus (HIV) cases among homosexuals and bisexuals has spiked.
  • COMMENTARY: Gay teens eating disorders
Gay, lesbian and bisexual teenagers may be at higher risk of binge-eating and purging than their heterosexual peers, starting as early as age 12, a new study finds. Past research has found connections between sexual orientation and the risk of eating disorders in adults -- showing, for instance, that gay men have higher rates of symptoms than their heterosexual counterparts.
  • MENS HEALTH: Circumcision protects gay men ?
Circumcision may protect gay men who are exclusively insertive for anal sex from infection with HIV, an Australian study published in the November 13th edition of AIDS suggests. But this finding is based upon just seven infections amongst men who expressed a preference for insertive sex. The investigators found that amongst the men who reported only insertive sex as a behaviour, circumcision did not significantly reduce the risk of infection with HIV.
  • MENS HEALTH : Popular weight loss myths!!
The skinny on diets ... popular weight loss myths have doctors confused as well. Australian scientists Garry Egger and Sam Egger separate truth from fiction in the quest for weight loss. There is a great deal of misunderstanding about weight loss, which extends well beyond the public to health professionals. On one level, that is hardly surprising because the evidence can be very unclear. The science of health behaviour - including nutrition, exercise, sleep and weight management - is generally less developed than research relating to other medical questions. Unvetted ''expert'' claims abound.
  • SEX & LIVING: Struggle For Queer Freedom
Brian williamson vigil The Global Struggle For Queer FreedomJamaican AIDS activist, Steve Harvey, was shot dead by a gang of men who burst into his home in late 2005. Soon afterwards, Nokia Cowen, drowned when he jumped into Kingston harbour to escape a violent homophobic mob. A few weeks later, Jamaica’s trade ambassador, Peter King, was found dead with his throat slashed and multiple stab wounds. Then the mutilated bodies of two lesbians were found dumped in a septic pit behind the house they shared.
  • MENS HEALTH : Making Workouts Work !!
Being physically inactive is as damaging to your health as smoking cigarettes. Why, then, aren't more people willing to exercise? Part of the reason may be the word "exercise." Exercise seems to imply rigid, "no-fun" workouts that make us huff and puff and sweat. Workouts also can be time-consuming: It's hard to find time in a busy day to get to a gym, change, work out, shower, change again, and drive home. Unfortunately, for many us, exercise is viewed as an impractical burden that complicates rather than complements a busy life.
