World Outgames 2009 announces preliminary sports Programme

A preliminary sports programme for the World Outgames 2009 was presented to the Gay and Lesbian International Sports Association co-presidents Catherine Meade and Wessel van Kampen at recent meeting with World Outgames 2009 organisers in the host city Copenhagen.

World Outgames 2009 will take place in Copenhagen from 25 July - 2 August 2009. At present plans are underway for competitions to be held in more than 30 disciplines ranging from aerobics to volley ball. Registration for both individual and team sporting events begins in 2008.

It is possible that the schedule will be expanded to include more events, although the actual number of disciplines contested will be determined by the amount of interest and sports facilities available.

- Through a close collaboration with local, national and international sports associations, we will provide the facilities and logistical support to make the World Outgames 2009 in Copenhagen an open, competitive, fair and positive experience for all of the participating athletes, officials, volunteers, fans and sponsors, says Tommy Kristoffersen, sports director for World Outgames 2009.
